Amos 6:1-14 ❖ 1 Thess. 5:1-11 ❖ Luke 1:57-68
I have lived the majority of my life seeking the light. The journey has been challenging because there were many voices working to convince me that I had no right as an African American woman to the light or to have the space to engage the path that might help me to find the light. These words are an empowering reminder that as I embrace my life as a daughter of God, I am a child of light regardless of what the cultural narrative proclaims.
Since I belong to the day and the light shines brightly on the truth, I can live a life in the sobering assurance that the light belongs to me. I do not have to be controlled by the negative energy that is associated with being immobilized by choosing to shrink away from seeking the best truth possible wherever it is to be found. I can embrace the process that leads me to a place where I am capable of putting on faith and love as breastplates. I can be courageous. I can dream of a better world. I can walk on the road that Jesus made possible by being willing to accept the assignment to come to earth to help in showing us the way to wellness. My heart says “thank you Jesus” as I work each day to choose the light even on the days that I am tempted by darkness.
May the power that belongs to all of us who work to stay on the path leading to the light find hope and peace. Blessings.
He vivido la mayor parte de mi vida buscando la luz. El viaje ha sido desafiante porque hubieron muchas voces luchando para convencerme que, como mujer afroamericana, no tenía derecho a la luz ni a tener el espacio para emprender el camino que podría ayudarme a encontrar la luz. Estas palabras son un recordatorio empoderador de que al abrazar mi vida como hija de Dios, soy una hija de luz independientemente de lo que proclame la narrativa cultural.
Dado que pertenezco al día y la luz brilla intensamente sobre la verdad, puedo vivir una vida con la aleccionadora seguridad de que la luz me pertenece. No tengo que dejarme controlar por la energía negativa que se asocia con estar inmovilizado al elegir evitar buscar la mejor verdad posible dondequiera que se encuentre. Puedo abrazar el proceso que me lleva a un lugar donde soy capaz de ponerme la fé y el amor como corazas. Puedo ser valiente. Puedo soñar con un mundo mejor. Puedo caminar por el camino que Jesús hizo posible si estoy dispuesta a aceptar su tarea de venir a la tierra para ayudarnos mostrárnos el camino hacia el bienestar. Mi corazón dice “gracias Jesús” mientras trabajo cada día para elegir la luz incluso en los días en que soy tentada por la oscuridad.
Que el poder que nos pertenece a todos los que trabajamos para permanecer en el camino que conduce a la luz, encuentre esperanza y paz. Bendiciones.
