45; 47, 48
Zech. 2:1-13 Rev. 3:14-22 Matt. 24:32-44
ALERT!!! The Son of Man is coming, when is The Son of Man coming, will it be this week or next? Do you think it will be sooner or later? I have a million things to do, I can’t just sit here and wait.
HOW will I know The Son of Man? What will I say? How will I address Him? Will The Son of Man be a woman? What do I think about this? Does it matter?
The day and the hour of the coming is unknown. There are many stories of what people are doing.
One is the story of Noah, another the story of the two men in the field; one will be taken away and one is left and two women grinding meal, one will be taken and one will be left. A story of the homeowner who would have stayed awake if he had known when the thief was coming.
I am wondering about the ones taken and the ones left behind. Perhaps the ones taken were called to leave what they were doing and go forth to tell the stories and maybe the ones left are called to stay where they are and care for the community.
Keep awake for you do not know when your Lord is coming!
Holy and Gracious God,.
Deliver us from the limits we place on ourselves and on others.
And therefore on you our God. Amen.
