Psalm 31 • 35
Haggai 1:1-15 ❖ Rev. 2:18-29 ❖ Matthew 23:27-39
In today’s text from Haggai, the people had an outward appearance of success, comfort, and luxury
through their housing. However, they lacked a satisfying life despite their efforts. God calls Haggai
to deliver the message that it is time to rebuild the Temple. It can no longer wait.
This message stands out to me as I reflect on our modern world and societal context, in the seemingly comforts of our own neighborhoods and dwelling places. Are we really living satisfied lives? It would seem that when we forget to prioritize honoring and showing gratitude towards God our lives become empty and dissatisfied.
Through this text, we are reminded that returning thanks, praise, and reverence to God is the foundation for a flourishing life in all facets. It is a good reminder for us as we prepare for the Christ child’s birth.
A reminder that the Advent and Christmas seasons are not only about the hosting, the presents, the
experiences, the decorations, or the business. Instead, it is about the holy preparation, celebration, and midwifery of Israel. God with us.
Today, may we rebuild our hearts, minds, and spirits as we prepare for the birth of the Christ child. Amen.
En el texto de hoy de Hageo, el pueblo tenía una apariencia externa de éxito, comodidad y lujo gracias a sus viviendas. Sin embargo, a pesar de sus esfuerzos, no vivian una vida satisfactoria. Dios llama a Hageo para que transmitiera el mensaje de que es hora de reconstruir el Templo. Ya no se puede esperar más.
Este mensaje me llama la atención cuando reflexiono sobre nuestro mundo moderno y el contexto social, en la aparente comodidad de nuestros propios vecindarios y lugares de residencia. ¿Estamos
realmente viviendo una vida satisfactoria? Parecería que cuando nos olvidamos de dar prioridad a honrar y mostrar gratitud hacia Dios, nuestras vidas se vuelven vacías e insatisfechas.
A través de este texto, se nos recuerda que dar gracias, alabar y dar reverencia a Dios es la base para una vida próspera en todas sus facetas. Es un buen recordatorio para nosotros mientras nos preparamos para el nacimiento del niño Jesús.
Un recordatorio de que el Adviento y la Navidad no solo se tratan de reuniones, regalos, experiencias, decoracione o negocios. Se trata, más bien, de la preparación sagrada, la celebración y el nacimiento de Israel. Dios con nosotros.
Que hoy podamos reconstruir nuestros corazones, mentes y espíritus mientras nos preparamos para el nacimiento del niño Jesús. Amén.
