In this season of hopeful expectation, I am reminded of the practice of simplicity. I long for it. While cleaning, I found some forever stamps. Buy them now at today’s rate and you can use them forever.
The religious leaders try to trap Jesus by questioning him on the legitimacy of paying taxes to Rome. Jesus instead traps them in their own question, getting them to reveal the coin and the graven image that was found on it. Jesus’ answer at this moment – is priceless.
We are all created in the divine image of God. All of us are therefore stamped with the likeness of God. We are God’s forever stamps. Our purpose should always be service to the one God. With our total body, mind and spirit – always and forever.
What has God given you? When you were created out of the womb of your mother – you were stamped with God’s image. What are you now giving back to God? From the beginning of time we have belonged to God and God alone. At our baptisms we were sealed with the sign of the cross and marked as Christ’s own forever. A sign, a stamp, a reminder of who and whose we are. May I, may you, may we all be God’s forever stamps – a sign to the whole world that we are here to be God’s kingdom builders. Now and forever.
Help us to live in service to you and you only, all while our deepest allegiance remains with the building of your kingdom. Amen.
En esta época de esperanzas, recuerdo la práctica de la sencillez. La añoro. Mientras limpiaba, encontré unos sellos postales perpetuos. Si los compras ahora al precio actual, podrás usarlos para siempre.
Los líderes religiosos intentan tenderle una trampa a Jesús preguntándole sobre la legitimidad de pagar impuestos a Roma. Jesús, en cambio, los atrapa en su propia pregunta, haciéndoles revelar la moneda y la imagen grabada que se encontraba en ella. La respuesta de Jesús en ese momento no tiene precio.
Todos hemos sido creados a imagen y semejanza de Dios. Por lo tanto, todos llevamos impresa la imagen de Dios. Somos los sellos perpetuos de Dios. Nuestro propósito debe ser siempre servir al único Dios. Con todo nuestro cuerpo, mente y espíritu, siempre y para siempre.
¿Qué te ha dado Dios? Cuando fuiste creado en el vientre de tu madre, fuiste marcado con la imagen de Dios. ¿Qué le estás devolviendo ahora a Dios? Desde el principio de los tiempos hemos pertenecido a Dios y solo a Dios. En nuestro bautismo fuimos sellados con la señal de la cruz y marcados como propiedad de Cristo para siempre. Una señal, un sello, un recordatorio de quiénes somos y de quién somos. Que yo, que tú, que todos seamos sellos eternos de Dios, una señal para todo el mundo de que estamos aquí para construir el reino de Dios. Ahora y para siempre.
Ayúdanos a vivir al servicio de ti y solo de ti, mientras nuestra lealtad más profunda permanece en la construcción de tu reino. Amén.
